Alvin Divina, founder/lead stylist
Alvin Divina is a licensed cosmetologist, esthetician, and professional makeup artist with over a decade of experience working behind the chair and behind the scenes in the beauty industry.
His work has appeared in editorial publications, fashion runways, film, and television, collaborating alongside some of the most respected artists and brands in beauty. Alvin has also trained with leading educators in the industry, including specialized curl training with renowned texture expert Presley Poe.
But while his career has taken him into high-profile creative spaces, Alvin’s true passion lives in personalized transformation and education.
Outside of the salon, Alvin can be found traveling, trying out new restaurants, and being a dog father to Kona, his beloved chihuahua.

As advocates of the LGBTQIA+ community, Alvin knows what it feels like to walk into spaces where you don’t always feel seen, heard, or fully accepted. They envisioned something different — a studio where everyone, regardless of how they identify or express themselves, feels welcomed, respected, and cared for without judgment.
Skin & Scissors was built to be a gender-neutral space where individuality is celebrated and beauty is approached with compassion, skill, and intention.

In skincare, Alvin has worked with some of the most advanced professional lines in the world, including MBR (Medical Beauty Research) — a luxury German skincare brand known for its cutting-edge anti-aging technology and clinical results.

As a cancer survivor, Alvin understands deeply how much our relationship with hair and skin can affect confidence and identity.
This personal experience is why he is a proud supporter of Wigs for Kids, donating hair and helping clients participate in giving programs that provide wigs for children experiencing medical hair loss.
For him, beauty is not just about appearance — it’s about restoring confidence, dignity, and self-expression.
